Baseball Preview: Spanish Springs Cougars vs. Reed Raiders
Spanish Springs and Reed are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. Spanish Springs will welcome Reed at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Spanish Springs' win against McQueen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Spanish Springs had just enough and edged out McQueen 6-4. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

At the plate, Landon Pahang was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dylan Kawachi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Reed entered their tilt with Damonte Ranch on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs.
Reed also got a great performance from Chase Spencer as he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Spencer has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Moss, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Nicholas Leonard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Spanish Springs' victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Reed, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
