Baseball Recap: Scott County's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Scott County extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 19-7 in the process. They came out on top against the West Jessamine Colts by a score of 5-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Preston Luckett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Wands was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Stevenson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for West Jessamine, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-24 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

On West Jessamine's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mavrick Napier, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Coincidentally, Scott County and West Jessamine will both be playing Tates Creek the next time they take the field. The Colts will head out to face the Commodores at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
