Recap: Smithfield-Selma Spartans vs. Southern Wayne Saints
The Smithfield-Selma Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Southern Wayne. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smithfield-Selma in their matchups with Southern Wayne: they've now lost three in a row.
Smithfield-Selma's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Stewart, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Bailey, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Smithfield-Selma's defeat was their 18th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Southern Wayne, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing C.B. Aycock the next time they take the court. Smithfield-Selma will host C.B. Aycock at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Southern Wayne will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
