Football Recap: Crean Lutheran Piles Up the Points Against Capistrano Valley

Crean Lutheran got themselves on the board against Capistrano Valley on Wednesday, but Capistrano Valley never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 32-0 victory over the Cougars. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for the Saints this season.

Hayli McIlroy produced another solid effort rushing for 94 yards and one TD on only six carries, while also throwing for 127 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Cain, who picked up 52 receiving yards and three scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crean Lutheran was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Crean Lutheran didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rian Gaeta and Anna Ciftcikara.

The win made it two in a row for Crean Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 12 points in those games. As for Capistrano Valley, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Crean Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-7 defeat against Fullerton on the 14th. As for Capistrano Valley, they will face off against Orange at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
