Baseball Game Preview: Gahr Gladiators vs. Huntington Beach Oilers

Gahr is 0-6 against Huntington Beach since March of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Gladiators will welcome the Oilers at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gahr 3.3, Huntington Beach 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Gahr nor Orange Lutheran made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Gladiators fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 4-3.

Jake Ourique was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gahr saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Kemp, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Huntington Beach came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Barons by a score of 9-5.

Huntington Beach got a massive performance out of Jayton Greer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Trent Grindlinger was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Gahr's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Huntington Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 23-4.
