Soccer Game Preview: Mandeville vs. A.J. Ellender

The Mandeville Skippers and the A.J. Ellender Patriots will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mandeville will be strutting in after a win while A.J. Ellender will be coming in after a defeat.

A.J. Ellender is hoping to do what St. Martin's Episcopal couldn't on Friday: put an end to Mandeville's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Mandeville's defense stepped up to hand St. Martin's Episcopal an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Skippers have won five contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, A.J. Ellender came up short against Morgan City on Friday and fell 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly two goals.

Mandeville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three games. As for A.J. Ellender, they now have a losing record at 4-5-3.
