Softball Recap: Walker Valley Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Walker Valley won the last time they faced East Hamilton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs walked away with a 5-1 win over the Hurricanes. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests in a row.

Olivia Presswood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Byers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Amy Benson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.

Walker Valley pushed their record up to 24-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for East Hamilton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker Valley will welcome Silverdale Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3, the Seahawks 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for East Hamilton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hixson at 3:00 p.m.
