Basketball Game Preview: Sand Rock Wildcats vs. Cherokee County Warriors

The Sand Rock Wildcats will take on the Cherokee County Warriors at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Sand Rock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Cherokee County likes a good challenge.

Sand Rock will bounce into Friday's game after beating Piedmont, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. Sand Rock pulled ahead with a 62-61 photo finish over Piedmont on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Cherokee County lost to Alexandria at home by a 61-46 margin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Valley Cubs: they've now lost four in a row.

Cherokee County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Sand Rock, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Sand Rock came up short against Cherokee County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 48-37. Can Sand Rock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
