Basketball Game Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. Andrew Jackson Volunteers

Chesterfield is 0-10 against Andrew Jackson since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Chesterfield Golden Rams will head out to take on the Andrew Jackson Volunteers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Chesterfield fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Buford on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Golden Rams still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.4 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They took down the Braves 67-51. Given the Volunteers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Braves are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrew Jackson's win came from a few key players Chesterfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Peterson, who went 5 of 6 en route to 19 points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damias Seegars, who posted 14 points.

Andrew Jackson pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Chesterfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Chesterfield was taken down by Andrew Jackson 71-40 in their previous meeting on January 3rd. Can Chesterfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
