Softball Recap: Centerville Comes Up Short

Centerville extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, falling 15-0. The Tornadoes were not able to make up for their defeat to Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, their record now sits at 4-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.

For Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy's part, Isabel Waltner looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Waltner has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avary Thomas was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Remington Weier, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Centerville will head out to take on Lennox at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, they will welcome McCook Central/Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
