Basketball Recap: Nordhoff Comes Up Short

Nordhoff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Carpinteria Warriors, falling 75-48. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-55 last Monday.

Nordhoff's loss came despite strong showings from Jonathan Roman and Cayden Budlong. Roman posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks, while Budlong went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and seven boards. That's the most blocks Roman has posted since back in November of 2024. Spencer Placial was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Nordhoff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Nordhoff's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Carpinteria, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Nordhoff has already played their next match, a 61-59 defeat against Fillmore on the 24th. As for Carpinteria, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-54 win against Hueneme on the 25th.
