Baseball Recap: Westview Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Estrella Foothills, Westview was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Mohave Thunderbirds.

Ghael Beltran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Justin Marquez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Westview: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jordan Perez, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Westview now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Mohave, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

Westview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 23-0 loss against Deer Valley on the 25th. As for Mohave, they have also already played their next match, a 24-2 defeat against Flagstaff on the 29th.
