Soccer Game Preview: Cottonwood vs. Cyprus

The Cottonwood Colts will challenge the Cyprus Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Cottonwood is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Cottonwood managed to keep up with Murray until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Cottonwood lost 5-0 to Murray. While losing is never fun, Cottonwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Murray are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, Cyprus' game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Kearns by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Cyprus have lost by just one goal.

Cottonwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cyprus, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went Cottonwood's way against Cyprus when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Cottonwood made off with a 3-0 victory. Does Cottonwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cyprus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
