Baseball Game Preview: Hardin-Jefferson Hawks vs. Bridge City Cardinals

For the second straight game, Hardin-Jefferson will face off against Bridge City. The Hawks will challenge the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Hardin-Jefferson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Bridge City 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 11th.

Ryan Samoff was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Harrod, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Hardin-Jefferson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Hardin-Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bridge City, they moved to 22-6-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
