Baseball Recap: Manning Comes Up Short

Manning dropped down to 4-9 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Mullins Auctioneers. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Auctioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Mullins, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-8. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2025 (when they won 14-0).

For Mullins' part, Adam Shaw tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Shaw has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jadae Mcgill, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jay Mills, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Manning will head out on the road to face off against Lee Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mullins will be paying especially close attention to the Monarchs' contest: after the Monarchs face off against the Stallions, they'll take on Mullins again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
