Basketball Recap: Olentangy Berlin Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Olentangy Berlin Bears didn't have quite enough to beat the North Union Wildcats and fell 51-49. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 19-13 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Olentangy Berlin still got an impressive performance from Aubrey Bashore, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Bashore has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Grubbs, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points.

Olentangy Berlin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for North Union, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olentangy Berlin will head out to challenge Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Union, they will venture away from home to square off against Bellefontaine at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellefontaine will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something North Union surely won't give up without a fight.
