Softball Game Preview: Oak Hill Rams vs. Plainview Hornets

The Oak Hill Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Plainview Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hill will be strutting in after a victory while Plainview will be coming in after a defeat.

Oak Hill took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Buckeye, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Oak Hill won by a run and slipped past Buckeye 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Jodie Jowers was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Cassi LaCaze also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Jowers wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Oak Hill lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Plainview and St. Joseph's - Plaucheville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Plainview lost 19-5 to St. Joseph's - Plaucheville on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Oak Hill's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Plainview, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Oak Hill took their win against Plainview in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Hill since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
