Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mount Dora ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured a 45-39 W over the Tavares Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Hurricanes: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in November of 2024, they had to take a 39-36 defeat.

Mount Dora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meralis Garcia, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taejah Bosch, who earned 13 points.

Mount Dora's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Tavares, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-10.

Mount Dora won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Belleview at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tavares, they will host Hope Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
