Basketball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost to the Liberty Eagles at home by a 68-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Eagles are ranked 152nd).

Alton's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Liberty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Alton will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Winona at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Liberty has already played their next matchup, a 60-58 loss against Mountain Grove on the 27th.
