Basketball Recap: Greeley Central Wildcats vs. Timnath Cubs
Greeley Central lost against Timnath two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Greeley Central Wildcats had to suffer through a 65-31 loss at the hands of the Timnath Cubs. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Cubs are ranked 42nd).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Sepeda, who posted ten points. Aaniya Davis was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 10 points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timnath to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gretchen Deines, who had 12 points and seven assists. That's the most assists Deines has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Zadeh, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds.
Greeley Central has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Timnath, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Greeley Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-38 loss against Northridge on the 14th. As for Timnath, they have also already played their next game, a 56-36 victory against Loveland on the 15th.
