Basketball Game Preview: Sequoyah Chiefs vs. South-Doyle Cherokees

The Sequoyah Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the South-Doyle Cherokees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sequoyah is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Sequoyah came up short against Lenoir City and fell 58-51.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Anderson County by a score of 77-64. While losing is never fun, the Cherokees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Mavericks are ranked 90th).

South-Doyle has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points over those games. As for Sequoyah, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Sequoyah came out on top in a nail-biter against South-Doyle in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 48-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sequoyah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
