Basketball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Comes Up Short

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo lost against La Joya back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears and the La Joya Coyotes didn't end well, with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears falling 69-54. The Bears' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

La Joya got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Trevino out in front who went 8 for 18 on his way to 25 points and five steals. Trevino is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Hunter Morales was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 18 points and eight boards.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's loss dropped their record down to 10-18. As for La Joya, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-17 record this season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo and La Joya could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will face off against Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday down 851 places (1207 vs. 356). Meanwhile, La Joya (ranked 860th) will meet Weslaco (ranked 350th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
