Recap: Carrboro Jaguars vs. Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs
The Carrboro Jaguars pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Durham School of the Arts. Carrboro has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carrboro's loss came despite strong showings from Bakari Watkins and Jadon Pendergraft-El. Watkins dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Pendergraft-El scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pendergraft-El has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Kanjorski, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Carrboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham School of the Arts only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Durham School of the Arts to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jadin Haynes, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Dorsette, who scored nine points along with ten assists and five rebounds.
Carrboro now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Durham School of the Arts, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrboro will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against J.F. Webb at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. J.F. Webb has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Durham School of the Arts, they will head out on the road to challenge South Granville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Granville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Durham School of the Arts likes a good challenge.
