Basketball Recap: Beaverhead County Beats Hamilton for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Beaverhead County entered their tilt with Hamilton on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 48-35 win over the Hamilton Broncs. Given the Beavers' advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Broncs are ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beaverhead County was led to victory by Carter Curnow and Kyler Engellant. Curnow went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points, while Engellant dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Engellant's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cohen Hartman, who posted six points and five assists.

Hamilton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Canaan Magness, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Magness is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Tyler Jette was another key player, putting up ten points.

Beaverhead County pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Hamilton, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6.

Beaverhead County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-25 win against Corvallis on the 25th. Hamilton has also already played their next matchup (against Butte Central Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
