Volleyball Recap: Monroe Central Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Monroe Central and Southern Wells have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Golden Bears lost 3-0 to the Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Bears of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While Monroe Central ultimately came up short, they really made Southern Wells work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-9, 26-24.

Hadley Hendrickson paced Monroe Central's offense, picking up ten kills. Hendrickson got some help from Bentley Pegg and her 14 assists. Addilynn Grove controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Southern Wells found their leader in sophomore Kaylee Davis, who had 15 digs. Davis is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Monroe Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Southern Wells, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Monroe Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Union on the 27th. As for Southern Wells, they will take on Mississinewa at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
