Softball Game Preview: Ouachita Parish Lions vs. West Monroe Rebels

Ouachita Parish hasn't had much luck against West Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ouachita Parish Lions will take on the West Monroe Rebels at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ouachita Parish has three straight wins, West Monroe has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Ouachita Parish sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Franklin Parish.

Malayah Vaughn was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rheagan Montgomery, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Ouachita Parish kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for West Monroe's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Calvary Baptist Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Ouachita Parish pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Ouachita Parish suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to West Monroe when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Ouachita Parish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
