Basketball Recap: Croatan Skates Past Lejeune with Ease

There's no place like home for Croatan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Lejeune Devil Pups 66-23 on Monday. That looming 66-23 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Leading Croatan to victory were Neely McMannen and Hannah Buchan. McMannen went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points along with seven assists and seven steals, while Buchan went 9 for 16 en route to 21 points and five steals. Those 21 points gave Buchan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Johnson, who posted ten points and three blocks.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Croatan was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lejeune only posted four assists.

Croatan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.2 points. As for Lejeune, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coincidentally, Croatan and Lejeune will both be playing Dixon the next time they take the court. Lejeune will head out to face Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Croatan will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
