Basketball Recap: Geneseo Takes a Loss

Geneseo lost against Manual back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Geneseo Maple Leafs took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manual Rams. While losing is never fun, the Maple Leafs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Rams are ranked 124th).

Manual was led to victory by Breyasia Grayson and Nyanna Payton. Grayson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Payton dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Admyre Thompson, who posted six points and five boards.

Geneseo is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17. As for Manual, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8.

Geneseo has already played their next contest, an 84-28 loss against Sterling on the 30th. As for Manual, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-36 defeat against Bloomington on the 30th.
