Football Recap: Mammoth Huskies vs. Pahranagat Valley Panthers
It was fun while it lasted, but Mammoth's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Friday. They were dealt a 58-12 defeat at the hands of the Pahranagat Valley Panthers. That makes it the first time this season the Huskies have let down their home crowd.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Ericson, who picked up 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ericson was even better on defense, making 14 total tackles and defending three passes.
Mammoth wouldn't let Pahranagat Valley keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Mammoth can thank Tanner Knott and Kai Parks for forcing both of them. Parks is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Mammoth fell to 5-1. As for Pahranagat Valley, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Mammoth will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lone Pine at 7:00 p.m. on October 12th. As for Pahranagat Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Beaver Dam at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Pahranagat Valley's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Beaver Dam has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
