Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lovejoy). Everything went their way against the Sherman Bearcats on Thursday as they made off with an 18-3 victory. Considering the Leopards have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Izzy Guarriello made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 23 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jainael Richardson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie George, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Lovejoy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sherman only posted a batting average of .188.
Lovejoy has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.
