Farwell barely beat Harrison the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 16-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lindsay Esterline made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Farwell got a massive performance out of Karleigh Ames, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Anna Van Buskirk was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Farwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
The win made it two in a row for Farwell and bumps their season record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Harrison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
