Grants proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 22) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Taos Tigers , sneaking past 21-19. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grants to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andres Lazos, who rushed for 140 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Lazos has posted since back in October of 2023. Another passer making a difference was Tristin Fernandez, who threw for 159 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes.

Grants was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in three consecutive matches.

Grants didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Noah Lundstrom.

Grants now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Taos, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.
