Volleyball Recap: Cedar Valley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Westlake

On Friday, Cedar Valley faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Cedar Valley Aviators took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westlake Thunder. The Aviators just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Luke Michaelis paced Cedar Valley's offense, picking up five kills. Michaelis got some help from Jonny Petersen and his nine assists. Swayden Sabey controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Westlake to victory were Talon Schank and Keagan Cundiff. Schank had 14 digs, while Cundiff had 18 assists and one block.

Cedar Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Westlake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Cedar Valley has already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Alta on the 8th. As for Westlake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Bingham on the 8th.
