Florida high school football: Jeff Jones of St. Petersburg tops state rushing yardage leaderboard

Junior quarterback has rushed for 1,365 yards through seven contests.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, junior quarterback Jeff Jones of St. Petersburg leads Florida high school football in rushing yardage. See the complete list of the top 50 rushers in the state below.

Jones has piled up 1,365 yards and 19 touchdowns on 123 carries and helped the Green Devils to a record of 5-2. Against Osceola (Seminole) on Sept. 15, the signal caller carried 16 times for 337 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-14 victory.

Antonio Muniz of Gulf (New Port Richey) is second with 1,340 rushing yards. He carried 26 times for 300 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-18 victory over Lecanto last week.

Freshman Kyree Wilson of Christ's Church Academy (Jacksonville) is in the state's top 20 with 1,022 rushing yards. The first-year running back has rushed for over 100 yards six times for the 6-1 Eagles and ran for a career-high 247 yards on 31 carries in a 19-14 victory over Impact Christian Academy (Jacksonville) on Oct. 6.
