Softball Recap: Mashpee Comes Up Short

Mashpee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 24-8 to the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Dolphins.

McKenzie O'Connell and Michelle Gonsalves stepped up to the plate in a big way. O'Connell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Gonsalves got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Misqua Strickland, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Mashpee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Coming up, Mashpee will host Southeastern RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, they will head out to take on Sandwich at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dolphins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Knights have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
