Preview: Athens vs. River Valley
Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, River Valley should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They will challenge Athens on the road at 7:30 PM. River Valley come in off of four low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the squad is obviously eager to reverse.
Things haven't been easy for River Valley, and their contest last Friday only extended their streak of losses to nine. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-35 to Vinton County.
Meanwhile, Athens put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They made easy work of Wellston and carried off a 39-8 win. The win was familiar territory for Athens, who now have six in a row.
River Valley found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 7-39 punch to the gut against Athens the last time the two teams met. Can River Valley avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself ? We'll soon find out.
