Football Recap: Northmont Takes a Loss

Northmont extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were outmatched by the Fairmont Firebirds and fell 31-0. The Thunderbolts were not able to make up for their defeat to the Firebirds from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Bryce Staggs threw for 121 yards on 11 of 18 attempts. Jaydan Smith was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

As for Fairmont, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Northmont is ranked 307th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damien Pattin, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Pattin posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Northmont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 31-0 loss against Centerville on the 10th. As for Fairmont, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-12 defeat against Springboro on the 10th.
