Basketball Game Preview: Caney Creek Panthers vs. New Caney Eagles

Caney Creek is 0-10 against New Caney since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Caney Creek is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against College Park on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Caney Creek took a blow against College Park, falling 98-39. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-22.

Meanwhile, New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willis. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1150th, while the Wildkats are ranked 509th).

Caney Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for New Caney, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Caney Creek came up short against New Caney in their previous matchup back in February, falling 52-39. Can Caney Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
