Softball Recap: Brentwood Wins Going Away Against Springdale

Brentwood won the last time they faced Springdale and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Dynamos.

Emma Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Thompson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Carma Coberly was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kacey Leuch also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Brentwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in five consecutive games.

Brentwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Springdale, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Brentwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-1 win against Ellis on the 1st. As for Springdale, they will venture away from home to square off against Northgate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
