Basketball Recap: Boonville Takes a Loss

Boonville lost against Heritage Hills back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Boonville Pioneers took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Hills Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Patriots are ranked 128th).

Heritage Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mayci Litherland, who posted 19 points. That's the most points Litherland has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Leibering, who had nine points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Boonville and nudges their season record down to 5-15. As for Heritage Hills, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.

Boonville will square off against Evansville Reitz at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Reitz is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. Heritage Hills has already played their next match (against Pike Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
