Soccer Game Preview: Hawthorne vs. Beverly Hills

Hawthorne hasn't had much luck against Beverly Hills recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Normans at 5:30 p.m. Hawthorne has given up an average of 3.7 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hawthorne fell victim to Santa Monica and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 14-0. While losing is never fun, Hawthorne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while Santa Monica are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Beverly Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lawndale, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for Beverly Hills, who have now won three contests in a row.

Beverly Hills' win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Hawthorne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10-2.
