Softball Game Preview: Canajoharie Cougars vs. Broadalbin-Perth Patriots

The Canajoharie Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Canajoharie lost 22-3 to Galway on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Broadalbin-Perth). Everything went their way against Gloversville on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Adrianna Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Broadalbin-Perth let Skylar Eglin and Marley Morin run wild. Eglin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Morin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Morin has posted since back in April of 2024. Kara Weaver was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Broadalbin-Perth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Canajoharie's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Broadalbin-Perth, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.
