Soccer Recap: Breese Central Takes a Loss

Breese Central and Althoff Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Breese Central had to settle for second. They came up short against the Crusaders, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Breese Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Althoff Catholic are ranked 46th).

This is the second loss in a row for Breese Central and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Althoff Catholic, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-6-2.

Breese Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Althoff Catholic, they will square off against Mater Dei at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Althoff Catholic will be up against Mater Dei's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.5 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
