Softball Recap: Oceanside Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Oceanside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Patrick Henry Patriots 4-3.

Anuhea Molifua spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Irie Filo, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Larsen, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Filo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oceanside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Oceanside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Patrick Henry now has a losing record of 6-7.

Coming up, Oceanside is taking a road trip to face off against San Marcos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oceanside's pitchers better be ready for this one: San Marcos has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Patrick Henry, they will host Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
