Basketball Recap: Soroco Comes Up Short

Soroco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Grand Mustangs. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 51-37 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

West Grand was led to victory by Sanjay Geffers and Hugo Gonzalez. Geffers dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, while Gonzalez dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. Those ten rebounds gave Geffers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stran Lechman, who posted three points and ten boards.

Soroco's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Grand, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Soroco and West Grand will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Rams see the court they'll take on Rangely at 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2026. As for West Grand, their break will end when they face Gilpin County at 1:00 p.m. on January 10, 2026.
