Softball Game Preview: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots

Greencastle is 0-4 against Terre Haute North Vigo since May of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Tiger Cubs will square off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m.

Greencastle is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They lost 11-3 to South Putnam.

Makenzie Creviston made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Terre Haute North Vigo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Bull Dogs.

Kyleigh Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Walker was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 14 games.

In other batting news, Terre Haute North Vigo let Rayven Wilson and Kara Salmon run wild. Wilson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Salmon went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Wilson a new career-high. Kenzie Zigler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Terre Haute North Vigo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Greencastle's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, their record now sits at 17-5.

Greencastle couldn't quite finish off Terre Haute North Vigo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Tiger Cubs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
