Baseball Game Preview: Vandegrift Vipers vs. Cedar Ridge Raiders

The Vandegrift Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Cedar Ridge Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Vandegrift is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on March 13th, they were much more limited against Lake Travis two weeks ago. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. The Vipers haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Stony Point 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Luke Irwin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Olivas was a standout: he went 2-for-6 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Kai Rice was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and one double.

Vandegrift now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Cedar Ridge, their record is now 14-7-2.

Vandegrift was able to grind out a solid victory over Cedar Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 7-2. Will the Vipers repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
