Softball Recap: Woodford County Yellowjackets vs. Assumption Rockets
Woodford County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Assumption on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 two weeks ago.
Addie Bryant made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Emma Ruby was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Woodford County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Assumption, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3-1.
