Softball Game Preview: Garfield Boilermakers vs. Wood-Ridge Blue Devils

Garfield is 0-4 against Wood-Ridge since April of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Boilermakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Garfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Bergen Charter 20-4 on Monday. The Boilermakers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2024 (when they won 25-5).

Meanwhile, Wood-Ridge came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Hawthorne 4-3 on Saturday.

Wood-Ridge's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Natalia Nieves, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. Alexa Celentano also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Garfield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Wood-Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Garfield might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Wood-Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Boilermakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
