Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millard North). They took down the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs 82-64 on Tuesday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Monarchs are ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millard North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Izzie Galligan out in front who went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points and five assists. Those 19 points gave Galligan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kate Stevens, who went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points.

Galligan wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Millard North was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Papillion-LaVista had strong showings from Jayda Richardson, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 23 points and three steals, and Rease Murtaugh, who posted 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Murtaugh's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Millard North's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Papillion-LaVista, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Millard North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-39 win against Benson on the 11th. As for Papillion-LaVista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-39 victory against Papillion-LaVista South on the 10th.
